BERNARD-OPITZ Dr Bernard-Opitz is the founder of the Structured Teaching for Exceptional Pupils (STEP) programme, which is now being used with children with autism at the Rainbow Centre (Margaret Drive). She was previously an an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work and Psychology, as well as Head of the Autism Research Centre and the Behavioural Intervention Centre for Children, at the National University of Singapore (NUS) for many years. In addition, Dr Bernard-Opitz has written a book entitled Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and contributed numerous research articles on her area of expertise to professional journals in the USA, Germany and Singapore. These include Parent-Training, Pragmatics, Computer-Assisted Instruction and Intensive Early Intervention. Altogether, she has almost 30 years of experience in working with children with autism. KIT, S. NG Kit spent 25 years in the United States before returning to Singapore to practice psychology. He brings with him 20 years’ of clinical experience in relationship therapy, addiction disorders, child psychology, couple therapy, family therapy, individual psychotherapy and consultation with different companies on employee issues. In the last decade, he has served in two universities as Professor in Psychology and Family Therapy. He directed two graduate programs in Psychology at Kean University in New Jersey, whilst running his own private practice which also covered the New York City area. BELINDA
MURUGASU-KOH A former President's Scholar, Dr Murugasu-Koh is a Consultant Paediatrician. She is also a Visiting Consultant in the Department of Paediatrics at the National University Hospital. A Presidents Scholar, she completed her undergraduate studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS), before embarking on postgraduate training in paediatrics in Singapore, the United States and Canada. She lectured in the Department of Paediatrics (NUS) and was an Associate Professor before going into private practice. LIM
YUIN WEN Dr Lim is currently in private practice at Mount Alvernia Hospital. Prior to that, she practised at KK Women and Childrens Hospital as Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in the Maternal-Fetal Unit. She underwent her basic medical training in Aberdeen, Scotland. She then continued with her postgraduate training in various hospitals in the UK where she obtained her postgraduate degree from the RCOG in London. Her main areas of interest are in obstetrics and in general gynaecology, with a special interest in menopausal medicine. Find out more:
