"The Gruffalo..." and other fascinating tales
by Julia Donaldson
We enter the lyrical, rhyming world of Julia Donaldson this term, to meet the Gruffalo and his Child, the
Smartest Giant in Town, and a beached Whale who is saved by a Snail! Following such encounters, we will be kept busy with Literacy, Cognitive and other Life Skills activities. We will be fortunate enough to meet sea and jungle "creatures" in face-to-face encounters, so arm yourself with a sword, a hat and lots of repellant, then creep on quietly but surely with us…. It will be an unforgettable term!
Call now to express an interest in our Programmes! Schedules for Term 2/2012 at Wee Care @ the Polliwogs are shown in the table below. For enquiries on admission, For enquiries on admission, please call our School Administrator (Wee Care @ The Polliwogs), at +65-6448-1422 or email: polliwogs@weecare.com.sg

Wee Care @ the Polliwogs
By Denise Lai, BA, BSocSc (Hons), MEd
Wee Care’s new centre, within the Polliwogs along the East Coast Parkway, opened on 1st August 09.
The Polliwogs, a new and beautiful playscape facility for children, was founded in May 09. It is owned and managed by Mr Hariman Kwok. Hariman, a father of two boys, wants to do something that will benefit children, and make them happy!
You will see how wonderful the playscape is, once you have visited. The area is fully padded and very clean. There are ramps and slides, as well as tunnels and little hideouts. Children can jump into two ball-pools, or have fun “shooting” plastic balls from one of two air-guns. Another aero-system allows children to put balls into a little compartment, only to have these tiny rubber balls come shooting out from the top-end, much like rubber-ball confetti!
|
| |
Hariman will tell you that children get so excited with the playscape, they refuse to leave. There have even been a few accidents, with children forgetting to use the toilet on time! Nonetheless, the Polliwogs has a high-tech and very expensive cleaning machine that takes each ball one at a time through a rigorous process of cleaning and disinfecting, that removes 99.9% of all known germs. Now, that’s clean!

Wee Care @ the Polliwogs will be located in three classrooms adjacent to the playscape. Within the context of our typical Bright Starts, Head Starts or Playgroup sessions, I have been telling visitors and interested parents that Outdoor Play is THE BEACH and Playground Time is the Polliwogs Playscape! Our children will be able to have their lunch or snack along the beautiful al-fresco patio just outside the Polliwogs (fully shaded and bounded by a gate).
Wee Care @ the Polliwogs is owned and operated under Franchise by two lovely ladies, Ms Vanessa Liok (who has a degree in Business Administration and a Specialist Diploma in Leadership in Early Childhood Education) as well as Ms I’Ling Noela Yee (who has a Degree in Business and Psychology). Given their backgrounds, strengths and interests, we feel that we have a really good team helming this centre, our first in the East Coast. Both Vanessa and I’Ling reflect the integrated pedagogical model that Wee Care is. Vanessa will be in charge of all matters relating to Early Childhood programmes, and I’Ling (who has worked as a Behaviour Therapist for children with special needs in a number of different cultural contexts) will be in charge of all therapy programmes.
We invite you to come and find out more about what Wee Care @ the Polliwogs can offer you and your child! Please call 6448-1422, for more information.
